The Board of Directors of Chams Plc has announced the appointment of the Very Rev. Ayo Richards as its chairman.
Richards succeeds Prof. Adebayo Akinde, who served on the board of the company as chairman for eight years.The outgoing chairman was recently appointed the Archbishop of Lagos Diocese of The Church of Nigeria (Anglican Communion), which led to his retirement as he needed to focus on his new responsibility.
A statement from the company, which was made available to our correspondent on Monday, said the new chairman, who was presented to the shareholders of the company at its 29th Annual General Meeting in Lagos, joined the board in 2009.
An associate of the Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria and the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria, Richards was an accomplished banker and highly sought-after management consultant with over 20 years experience in the banking sector.
Among other positions held through the years, Richards was a former managing director and chief executive officer of Guaranty Trust Bank, Gambia; deputy general manager at Access Bank and pioneer chief executive officer of Stallion Home Savings & Loan Limited.
