Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, is by far the most ICT inclined governor in Nigeria. Apart from implementing epayment scheme for pensioners and civil service staff in Osun state, he has implemented biometric datacapture for the corp members posted to the state. The objective of this is to mitigate the rampant practice of abscondment and impersonation known amongst corp member.
Chams PLC, Nigeria’s leading identity management and epayment solutions provider partnered with Osun state for the second time running to achieve this Laudable feat. About 10, 000 National Youth Service Corps members deployed to the State of Osun all had their biodata captured for verification and monthly roll call clearance.
The exercise was carried out in all local governments in 9 federal constituencies in the state with aim of providing a fast and efficient automated process of monthly stipend for the corps member, to screen out ghost corps members, efficient distribution of corps members to areas where they are needed.
The enrolment exercise was completed within one week. Major information captured during the enrollment was the bio data, 10 fingerprints, the primary place of assignment and their bank account details. A uniqueness check was also carried out of the capture data to avoid de-duplicate in the record. All the unique records were transferred to the state automated payroll system which is in use by the state for the generation of the civil servant payroll a solution deployed by Chams Plc for the state.
